Ambatovy Nickel Cobalt operations in Madagascar (a Sherritt International operation) is currently searching for experienced people for Instrumentation Foreman roles within their Maintenance Department.

The Roles

Reporting to the E & I Maintenance General Foreman we are seeking to fill three (3) Instrumentation Foreman positions. Each position will provide instrumentation technical expertise and leadership to one for the following areas:  PAL area, Major Projects area or Off Site area.

Specifically, the Instrumentation Foreman will:

  • Provide technical input and expertise. Whether it is within the highly specialized PAL processing facility, or being involved in Major Projects or being responsible for general instrumentation especially around the port area
  • Be actively involved with troubleshooting, repairing, calibration and providing maintenance services for all field instrumentation and control systems including PLC, safety shutdown system and DCS
  • Ensure high levels of site availability and area reliability
  • Ensure repairs are done on time and safely
  • Ensure Ambatovy safety procedures are understood and adhered to at all times
  • Coordinate with the Planner, E&I General Foreman and Operation to ensure the availability of spare parts, materials, equipment and tool requirements for the work to be completed
  • Assist E&I General Foreman with developing the budget for all maintenance programs and implement sound maintenance standards and practices
  • Conduct regular inspections ensuring a high quality of work and equipment reliability
  • Ensure all maintenance repairs are recorded on the central maintenance system
  • Complete shift reports
  • Build team cohesion
  • Identify and communicate all improvement opportunities pertaining to asset reliability and maintenance procedures
  • Supervise and control Radiation Source works and liaise with the General Foreman and Radiation Safety Officer regarding any observations or problems

The Requirements

  • A qualification in Instrumentation
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position, with 2 years at supervisory level
  • Strong technical background
  • Must be familiar with instrumentation regulations, components and tools
  • Must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of all safety aspects related to mechanical, instrumentation and electrical work within this type of industry
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and build a cohesive team
  • Demonstrate leadership skills especially related to problem solving, project implementation and continuous improvement
  • Previous experience in Africa or developing countries where technical knowledge transfer has successfully occurred through training, mentoring and coaching to the local workforce
  • Fluent in English and conversational French desirable
