Ambatovy Nickel Cobalt operations in Madagascar is currently searching for an experienced IT Infrastructure Superintendent to establish the overarching practices, processes and procedures to manage and support IT infrastructure.  Reporting to the IT Manager, the incumbent will provide oversight and leadership for design, delivery and support of the IT infrastructure, Network and Systems.  The IT Infrastructure Superintendent is of key importance and represents the highest degree of infrastructure related IT project delivery and core network and systems process improvement expertise within the enterprise.

The Role

In this role the successful person will be responsible for:

  • Ensures appropriate monitoring processes and procedures are in place to provide security access level to servers, databases and network, according to best practices standards and to protect the integrity of enterprise data
  • Ensures appropriate processes and procedures are in place to provide network and system optimal performance and ensure the reliability and availability according to agreed service levels
  • Develops and implement standards for all communications, systems and network related equipment and software
  • Develops guidelines and policies in the areas of enterprise systems and network infrastructure and related project management to ensure that all activities comply with expectations of the organization and business operations.
  • Develop and communicate to enterprise stakeholders mutually agreeable service delivery outage windows to minimize scheduled and unscheduled downtime
  • Incorporates and enforces effective change and risk management controls in all aspects of program and project management
  • Partners with IT and Business stakeholders to identify and define opportunities, track , prioritize and manage workload and determine project selection based on predefined criteria (safety and health, return on investment, productivity, efficiency, compliance)
  • Provides direct leadership, consistent guidance and overall and framework for IT Infrastructure projects and support teams to follow in planning, managing, executing, controlling and maintaining the IT project pipeline and application portfolio
  • Ensures appropriate monitoring processes and procedures are in place to provide servers, databases, network and application availability according to agreed service levels
  • Procedures regular management reports on IT Infrastructure activities, including weekly and monthly management reports
  • Ensures best practice development and project management methodologies are used for all significant development projects, including the creation of AFEs where necessary and Project Initiation Reports
  • Preparation and administration of annual IT Infrastructure operating and capital budgets
  • Ensures the establishment, utilization, update and continuous improvement of project management policies, processes, procedures, methods and tools in accordance with Ambatovy project management standards
  • Individually and through subordinates, provides the primary IT interface to customer departments for the definition of technology related business requirements, scope, risk and timeline
  • Produces accurate and up to date IT department briefings and reports, including progress and key performance Indicator (KPI’s), on a routine periodic basis

The Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of business management strategies, practices, processes and methods
  • Strong Organizational management, supervisory and leadership skills
  • Technical proficiency in systems and network hardware and software with implementation and vendor management
  • Expert analytical and problem solving abilities for facilitation of design, development and testing
  • Ability to explain solution concepts and strategies in simple, clear terms to promote understanding
  • Ability to work in fast paced, multidisciplinary, matrix management team environment
  • Broad Knowledge of technical architecture considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, 
deployment, operations, technology infrastructure)
  • High education in computer science, industrial, business Administration or related field
  • Self-driven, with proactive and strategic vision of IT
  • Able and willing to work in a remote environment
  • Able to work extended hours
  • Customer centric with proven interpersonal relationship development and negotiation competencies
  • Leadership skills essential to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel
  • Overall understanding of the objectives and functions of the company and departments serviced by IT
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective oral presentation and written communication with all levels of management and staff, fluent in English
