Investing in African Mining Indaba 2012
Globe 24-7’s African team recently returned from an actioned packed week at the Investing in African Mining Indaba (Mining Indaba) conference in Cape Town.
Mining Indaba has been running annually for 18 years and is one of the world’s largest gatherings of mining stakeholders and decision makers vested in African mining. The event attracted around 6,500 individuals representing more than 1000 international companies and approximately 40 African and non-African government delegations each year.
The Globe team was enthusiastic to greet the great influx of visitors that started streaming to the stand from the early hours of the first day and didn’t stop until the very end of the conference. The general perception from the team was that many visitors were already familiar with Globe’s services, had specific roles in mind and were serious from the outset about Globe helping them fill the roles.
Lisa Paluzzi, Globe’s South African based Recruitment Consultant, who was present and very active at the event said, “For me it was great putting faces to some of the clients I have been working with recently and especially finding out more detail on the ‘softer’ requirements they had in areas such as cultural dynamics”.
All in all it was a very productive week and all members of the team felt really excited from the conversations had with existing clients and new prospects, and couldn’t wait to start working on some of the roles that were discussed.
In addition to putting in the ‘hard yards’, the team thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with other consultants from Globe’s various African offices, the gala dinner, networking, food, wine and entertainment. A great event to kick off a busy 2012.
