Asia Mining Congress – Rise of the Resources Sector

Globe 24-7 at Asia Mining Congress

Members of Globe 24-7’s Asia Pacific team recently returned from a few busy days in Singapore, at the 8th annual Asia Mining Congress.

With approximately 2,000 attendees and 150 speakers, the congress ran for three action-packed days and examined developments, opportunities and challenges in the Asia Pacific region, focusing in on countries such as Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, and Mongolia, and commodities including coal and iron ore.

The breath of speakers, subjects, and nationalities involved was very impressive. As was the venue, Marina Bay Sands, and the wide variety of miners, investors and financiers that attended. The congress provided a great opportunity to present Globe 24-7’s services and learn about exiting updates from mining projects in the region.

In addition to the increase in investments in the Asian mining region, the attendance of international mining exhibitors also provided insights about the rise of the resources sector in countries such as Chile, Peru, Brazil, Sweden, Finland and Canada.

What the Team Thought of the Event

Globe’s Marketing Manager, Åsa Davidsson, says, “Considering the strength of the Asian economy and rapid developments in the mining industry, it is important for Globe 24-7 to attend a forum like this to show our commitment to the region. There was a strong interest from miners, across commodities and locations, in our services. Asia being an emerging commodities region, we had particular interest from junior miners needing expert assistance in both HR Consulting and Recruitment for projects in early exploration phases.”

Jon Bowker, Globe’s Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, also present at the event, added, “We were very impressed with the way the event was organised and it was a fantastic opportunity to network closely with key executives from across a broad spectrum of mining and resources companies. Even more so, we were extremely happy with the positive feedback we received from everyone that we spoke to at the event, as they all appeared to understand the importance of our Recruitment and HR Consulting services, in regions where finding candidates will be difficult in the coming months and years, and for international clients operating in unfamiliar regions. We’re looking forward to potentially partnering with a number of new clients as their projects transition from exploration to production.”
