Globe 24-7 Launches in Mongolia
We are pleased to announce the establishment of our new office in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to service the local Mongolian resources sector.
Globe 24-7 is the first international recruitment firm, specialising in the resources sector, to enter Mongolia and Lachlan Spicer, Globe 24-7 CEO, views the decision to enter the market as a “key component of the company’s ongoing strategy to have an in-country presence in all major mining centres of the world”. In addition to Mongolia, Globe 24-7 has offices in Perth, Brisbane, London, Toronto, Johannesburg, Accra and Port Louis.
Mongolia has become the fastest growing economy in Asia. In 2011 GDP expansion accelerated to an unprecedented 17.3%, from 6.4% in 2010, and in Q1 2012 the economy registered a growth rate of 16.7%. Similar growth rates are predicted for the future due to a number of major mining projects coming online, including the Ivanhoe / Rio Tinto development of the Oyu Tolgoi mine – the world’s largest undeveloped copper / gold project.
Spicer added, “We’ve been monitoring and researching the mining and infrastructure development in Mongolia for quite a while, and in the months leading up to office launch we’ve spent a substantial amount of time in-country, establishing strong local networks and securing a selection of key client commitments.
Jon Bowker, Globe 24-7’s Asia Pacific Regional Manager adds, “Our experience and track-record in sourcing local and expatriate candidates, in both developing and mature mining industries, ensures that we move into Mongolia with the utmost confidence we can successfully service their rapidly emerging HR and recruitment needs”.
