Asia-Pacific Regional Manager nominated for “Australia’s Best Recruiter”
Asia-Pacific Regional Manager, Nick Smith, was recently nominated in Stellar Recruitment’s “Australia’s Best Recruiter” for 2013, an Australia-wide search for talented recruitment professionals who stand out from their peers and are passionate about what they do. Applicants were judged on their values, achievements, recognitions, promotions, their recruitment ‘style’, career highlights, alongside references from a candidate and client.
Nick was kindly nominated by Rachel Shearer, Manager Workforce Planning & Recruitment at Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd. A special thanks to Rachel for acknowledging the hard work and dedication of one of the Globe 24-7 team. Rachel said that she nominated Nick based on his passion for meeting the needs of both the candidate and the client and the level of commitment and perseverance she experienced.
So what does it take to gain this kind of recognition from a client? Nick acknowledged that it is actually commitment and engagement from the client goes a long way in securing a committed consultant.
“Clients, if you want the best consultants to work on you roles, then ensure you give them what they need, value their time and the skills that they bring in engaging your target talent communities.”
Nick further commented that “In this age of information access, working with one committed Recruitment Consultant is not putting all your eggs in one basket, it’s about selecting a trusted partner and enabling them to truly focus and commit their resources and efforts to your assignment. Contingent vacancies with two or more agencies may make you feel like you are casting a wider net, but the effort put in by each agency is actually diminished and the quality in your brand representation is drastically reduced.”
Once a client has committed to fair and reasonable terms then they get 100% focus which is what it takes to secure the best people for your business.
Consultants: You have to work with and maintain contact with your clients and candidates through good times and bad rather than simply being a ‘fair weather’ service provider.
Candidates: Be selective about whom you allow to represent you in the market place, as a rogue recruiter can damage your desired status as a discerning jobseeker.
Nick was short listed in the Top 10 of nominees throughout Australia. Watch this space in the coming year as Nick develops one of his future team members for the coveted “Recruiter of the Year” title.
