Introducing Mike Wylie, Principal Consultant
Globe 24-7 is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Wylie as Principal Consultant in our Perth Office.
After 10 years in resources sector recruitment, Mike has become a respected expert in his field; working in mining and oil and gas, primarily in engineering, mining and project controls roles. Mike has formed strong relationships with resources sector players in both the EPC / EPCM and operational mining space, working with clients in Australian and offshore, primarily Africa and Asia.
Mike was the second staff member of a prominent Western Australian recruitment consultancy from 2003, where he was integral to the company’s growth from just two, to close to a hundred staff when he finished in 2012. Starting out on resource sector roles, he moved to specialize in mechanical and process engineering, placing personnel all over the world.
Globe’s traditional client base is within mining houses and junior miners, ramping up operations: covering the full organisational structure, with a focus on emerging markets. The appointment of an engineering market expert forms part of Globe’s strategy to support the entire resources and engineering space, with robust expertise; allowing our continued organic growth into the Australian and Asia Pacific markets.
Asia Pacific Regional Manager, Nick Smith said that “In addition to Mike doing what he does best – recruitment – Mike will also be working with Globe’s clients at bid, early planning, contract award or finance and mining licence stages, to ensure that the timely delivery of our clients’ resources projects are not hamstrung by ill-fitting or archaic resourcing models. Globe have seen a lot of resources projects, large and small, really struggle to implement the most suitable and cost-effective resourcing models and subsequently suffer at mobilisation stage.
Mike will therefore be consulting to Globe’s RPO team to ensure the most appropriate design and delivery of recruitment contracts for our clients. Whether the solution be one strategic appointment to get the contract off on the right foot, or providing a full recruitment strategy to source a full team, Mike’s contacts and years of experience are a real value-add to our clients here.”
Mike brings with him abundant energy and a large base of contacts, which over his extensive career he has successfully channelled towards becoming one of the most knowledgeable consultants in his field, both in engineering, and recruitment systems. He has solid knowledge genuine interest in the evolution of cloud based computing the recruitment industry.
Mike will continue to work with his traditional market as well as within mining operations, throughout the Asia Pacific region.
When the sun goes down, Mike spends a lot of time photographing live music and is currently live music photographer / journalist with Perth’s Xpress Magazine. He previously worked for The West Australian newspaper for seven years as a music journalist, and the Sunday Times for two years photographing their clubs section. Mike has had numerous exhibitions, including an exhibition of music photography which toured around Australia via Art on the Move. He has also photographed live music across the globe in New York, South America, Israel, Japan and China. Mike is passionate about travel: exploring the world extensively, including a year in India.
